Missing bookseller's case probed

January 03, 2016

The Police have conducted active investigations into a missing person case involving a Causeway Bay bookstore’s shareholder, Acting Secretary for Security John Lee says.

Speaking to reporters today, Mr Lee said officers have reviewed all CCTV footage of the missing person’s last known location.

He added that the scope of the investigation will be extended to examining the last people the missing person had contacted to ascertain the case’s background and facts.

The Police are waiting for a reply from Mainland law enforcement agencies on whether any Hong Kong people have been detained on the Mainland, Mr Lee said.

He urged the public to give officers time to investigate, adding that it is inappropriate to draw any conclusions at this stage.

Mr Lee noted that Hong Kong is a place that respects the rule of law and the law protects the rights, freedom and safety of everybody in Hong Kong.
