Secretary for Security TK Lai concluded his visit to Canada yesterday after meeting the business community, students and officials in Vancouver.
Mr Lai attended a breakfast reception co-organised by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office and the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association, attended by representatives of business, professional and youth bodies in Vancouver.
He outlined the latest economic developments in Hong Kong, including the business opportunities brought by the new Silk Road Economic Belt, 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
He also briefed them on various admission schemes including the newly launched Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong Permanent Residents.
Mr Lai said applicants do not need to have secured a job before coming, and can bring their family with them.
He later met students of the University of British Columbia and met Acting Chinese Consul-General Fan Xiaodong.
Mr Lai thanked the consulate for providing assistance to Hong Kong residents in need.
