Occupiers hurt rule of law: SJ

December 16, 2014

The illegal occupation of Hong Kong's roads has undermined the city's rule of law, despite occupiers surrendering to Police, Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen says.

Addressing the media today, Mr Yuen said Hong Kong is a free society and people enjoy the freedom of expression. However, he said they must do so in a lawful manner.

On the arrest of more than 50 people in the Mong Kok protest site clearance, Mr Yuen said Police are investigating the cases.

The Department of Justice will decide in early January whether charges will be laid based on Police reports.
