Security chief welcomes surrender

December 02, 2014

Secretary for Security TK Lai has welcomed the Occupy Central leaders' plan to surrender to Police.

Responding to reporters' questions after a Legislative Council meeting today, Mr Lai said Police have an established structure and procedure to handle people who intend to turn themselves in, adding that Police will act accordingly.

Mr Lai also welcomed the Occupy leaders' call for those at the protest sites to leave, because they have affected people's livelihood and transport services.

He added it is the Hong Kong people's wish that the protests end peacefully and soon.

When asked if the Occupy leaders' decision will resolve the issue, Mr Lai said he believes society will welcome any move to ease the impact of the protest on people's daily lives.
