Avoid Mong Kok: Police

November 29, 2014

Police have called on the public to avoid Mong Kok at night.

Although Argyle Street, Nathan Road and other roads nearby have been reopened, Police say Mong Kok remains a high-risk area.

In recent nights groups of troublemakers have been gathering in Mong Kok, provoking others and attempting to block the roads again. Their acts have caused nuisance to residents and business operators. They have also charged at police lines and further confrontations can be sparked off any time.

Police urge people to avoid going to Mong Kok at night, while residents and business operators should be vigilant for their personal safety.

Police have deployed appropriate manpower to prevent road blockages, and are duty bound to maintain public order and protect public safety.

Police also note that certain student organisations have called on people to bring supplies and equipment to Admiralty tomorrow to escalate their actions. Police are regretful that these organisations continue to foment people to commit illegal acts, and urged occupiers to leave immediately.

Journalists working on site should be vigilant of their personal safety, and Police have deployed media liaison teams to provide assistance.
