Don't block roads: Police

November 27, 2014

Police urge the public not to block roads and to keep a safe distance from police officers executing their duties to avoid getting hurt.

Police said although Mong Kok roads have reopened, radical protesters and troublemakers still linger in the vicinity, attempting to block roads again.

Last night some protestors gathered on Nelson Street and Shantung Street trying to block the roads. They refused to leave despite repeated Police appeals and warnings. They also attempted to provoke officers and charged at Police cordons.

To prevent the situation from deteriorating, Police took action to disperse the protestors and arrested 21 men for various offences. Traffic flow resumed this morning.

Some protestors dashed onto Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, last night, attempting to block the carriageways with obstacles, which were removed by Police. Police said such acts are illegal and dangerous.

Police said the erection of barricades will not be allowed, and officers will take strict enforcement action to stop such illegal acts.
