The Government held a cyber security seminar today to encourage the public to adopt security measures to protect their computing and IT devices.
Part of the 2014 Build a Secure Cyberspace campaign, the seminar was held by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, Police and the Computer Emergency Response Team Co-ordination Centre.
The seminar comprised several sessions in which representatives from the Government, industry associations and solution providers gave presentations on a range of topics, including enterprise security management, cyber threat protection strategies, security measures for mobile devices, and how to perform a health check on personal computing devices.
The campaign will also feature a series of public engagement activities, including school visits, seminars, radio programmes and competitions, to educate the public on cyber security.
Deputy Government Chief Information Officer (Consulting & Operations) Victor Lam said all computing devices, whether they are mobile phones, tablets, personal computers or the IT infrastructure of enterprises, which are connected to the Internet can be hacked.
"In view of emerging cyber threats, both businesses and individuals should master new knowledge and technologies to protect against cyber attacks and malicious activities."
A comic drawing contest was also held and received an overwhelming response with more than 1,800 entries received, including more than 1,100 from secondary schools.
