The Customs & Excise Department is investigating a vehicle importer and distributor believed to have contravened the Motor Vehicles (First Registration Tax) Ordinance.
The company is believed to have filed Import Returns for vehicles for use in Hong Kong with under-declared landed values.
In operations conducted on July 30 and 31, Customs officers searched the company’s showroom and office, and seized documents for investigation.
The company, located in Wan Chai, is mainly engaged in selling new vehicles imported from Japan.
