Customs officers arrested a 21-year-old man and a 41-year old woman yesterday, after seizing a total of 4.34kg of cocaine worth $4.3 million at Hong Kong International Airport.
The woman had arrived from Sao Paulo via Dubai. Officers found 1.34kg of cocaine inside candies and the false compartments of nylon bags, gift boxes and a keyboard she was carrying.
The man had arrived from São Paulo via Addis Ababa. About 3kg of liquid cocaine was found in three hair-care product bottles he carried.
Both will be charged with drug trafficking and will appear at Tsuen Wan Magistracy tomorrow.
