Alert issued on bogus email

The Monetary Authority has issued an alert over an email purporting to be sent from HSBC.

 

The email asks customers to use an embedded hyperlink which connects to a fraudulent website that asks for their personal information, such as their Hong Kong Identity Card number.

 

HSBC has clarified that it has not sent these emails and its has no connection with the fraudulent website.

 

Anyone who has provided personal information to the website, or has conducted any financial transactions through it, should contact HSBC on 2233 3000, or Police on 2860 5012.
