HK water, air safe

Radiation levels in Hong Kong's atmosphere and drinking water remain normal, Under Secretary for Security Lai Tung-kwok says, adding samples taken from five local fish farms have shown no abnormalities.

 

Mr Lai said today the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department will continue tests at other fish farms.

 

The Centre for Food Safety will take samples of marine products from Hong Kong and neighbouring waters for testing.

 

The Water Supplies Department and the Hong Kong Observatory have found no problems in their radiation checks of local water and air samples.

 

Designate Director of Immigration Chan Kwok-ki said 13 Hong Kong people in Japan could not be reached as at 1pm today. A Hong Kong citizen is known to be helping out in a shelter in Fukushima.
