Arrangements set for HK people to leave Tokyo

March 18, 2011

Arrangements have been made to help Hong Kong people in Tokyo leave the city. Those wishing to return can take the additional flights which will depart Narita Airport this evening.

Due to the evolving situation at the Fukushima nuclear facility and disruptions to transport, power and other infrastructure in Tokyo, the Government today advised Hong Kong residents currently in Tokyo to seriously consider returning to Hong Kong or moving to the south of Japan.

Flight CX2505 will depart at 8.55pm Tokyo time, and CX2509 at 9.50pm. In view of the traffic situation, people taking the flights should arrive at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo, at least 6.5 hours before the flight departure time, or make their own way to the airport.

The Hong Kong Government support team will also be at Narita Airport (zone E and F in terminal two). A helpdesk will be set up at Keio Plaza Hotel to provide airport transfer and other assistance to Hong Kong residents wishing to take the additional flights. For more details click here.

Hong Kong people who need to stay in Tokyo are strongly advised to register their telephone numbers, email addresses and local addresses with the Immigration Department by emailing 1868@immd.gov.hk.

The Security Bureau will continue to closely monitor the situation and issue updates through the media and its webpage.

Residents outside Hong Kong who need assistance can call the department's hotline (852)1868. The Chinese Embassy in Japan has also set up a hotline (81-3-34033064) to help Chinese citizens, including Hong Kong residents.
