The Buildings Department approved 23 building plans in December - two on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 18 in the New Territories.
Eight were for apartment and apartment-commercial developments, five for commercial developments, five for factory and industrial developments, and five for community services developments.
Consent was given for work to start on 19 building projects that will provide 39,469 sq m of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 209 units, and 133,945 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use.
The department received notification of the start of work for eight building projects.
It also issued 19 occupation permits - six on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories.
The buildings certified for occupation have 148,079 sq m of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 2,533 units, and 97,975 sq m for non-domestic use.
The declared cost of new buildings completed in December totalled $8.2 billion.
