Home run:  Chief Secretary Carrie Lam (second right) visits the Housing Department.

Chief Secretary Carrie Lam visited the Housing Department today.

She met Director of Housing Stanley Ying and his directorate colleagues, saying resolving the housing issue is a top priority of the Government.

She then toured the architectural and structural engineering sections under the Development & Construction Division, saying she was pleased to hear the department is promoting sustainable buildings and making use of information technology to enhance architectural designs and work efficiency.

She then went to the Housing Authority Customer Service Centre in Lok Fu and visited the Regional Management Office.

The office is responsible for the management and maintenance of 24 public rental housing estates as well as tenancy management for Tenants Purchase Scheme estates, Home Ownership Scheme courts and a Buy or Rent Option estate in the Tai Po, North and Sha Tin districts.

At the Home Ownership Scheme Sales Unit of the Land Administration Section and the Applications Sub-section of the Allocation Section, she was briefed on work relating to applications and sales for subsidised home ownership schemes.

Mrs Lam later spoke with department staff and encouraged them to continue their efforts to provide quality subsidised housing to the public.
