Water rhythm:  The Ying Wa Primary School drum team performs at the Water Conservation Week opening ceremony.

Director of Water Supplies Enoch Lam opened Water Conservation Week 2016 today to encourage people to save water.

Organised by the Water Supplies Department, the five-day programme features an exhibition, eco-tours of Mai Po and Tai Tam, a carnival, variety performances, workshops and seminars. Admission is free.

Mr Lam said the department’s educational activities cater to various sectors in the community to help build a water conservation culture.

It has rolled out the Best Practice Guidelines for Water Usage in collaboration with the hotel and catering industries.

It has also distributed the Cherish Water Campus teaching kit to primary schools and will extend the programme to kindergartens.
