The implementation period of the new Air Traffic Management System will not be extended.
Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung made the statement today, saying flight movements in Hong Kong have been reduced this month to facilitate the system's full implementation.
The Government has no plan to extend the period due to the approach of the Christmas peak travel season, as it will seriously affect air traffic.
"At the moment we are still working on the original plan of full implementation sometime within November, but the exact date has to be determined.
"We have to be fully certain system readiness and staff readiness are not at stake."
