Affected passengers approached

September 21, 2016

The Civil Aviation Department and all local airlines have agreed on the details of the short-term slot adjustment plan for the four weeks from the end of October during new Air Traffic Management System’s final transitional period. Affected passengers have been approached to be offered refunds or alternative flight arrangements.

The new system has commenced operation incrementally since June and is expected to be fully commissioned in October or November. The department will adjust the number of air traffic movements during peak hours in the final transitional period.

The department said this short-term slot adjustment is a one-off measure which falls within the off-peak season for travellers.

The airlines have adjusted the number of flights according to operational needs and market demand. The effect on overall passengers during the period is expected to be less significant.

Passengers can approach airlines or ticketing agents for enquiries related to flight arrangements between October 30 and November 26, the department added.
