The Development Bureau will strive to check structural and fire safety in mini-storage centres, under the interdepartmental taskforce led by the Security Bureau.
Speaking to reporters today, Secretary for Development Paul Chan said the Buildings Department will join the Fire Services Department to jointly inspect these mini-storage sites.
He said that while using industrial buildings for mini-storage centres does not involve redevelopment, the regulations on mini-storage has room for improvement.
He said the taskforce will tackle the issue diligently and speedily.
Mr Chan also said he is saddened by the death of the two firemen last week, and wished other injured firefighters a speedy recovery.
