The Land Registry recorded 5,613 sale and purchase agreements for all building units in April, up 78% on March, but down 9.8% year-on-year.
The 12-month moving average for April was 5,152, which was 1% below the 12-month moving average for March and 31.5% below that for April 2015.
The total consideration for sale and purchase agreements in April was $42.3 billion, up 95.3% on March but down 5.2% year-on-year.
Among the sale and purchase agreements, 4,494 were for residential units, up 89.7% on the previous month but down 1.2% year-on-year.
The total consideration for residential units was $34.5 billion, up 101.6% compared with March but 1.2% less year-on-year.
The public made 378,150 land register searches during the month.
