Baggage report received

April 25, 2016

The Government has received the Airport Authority's report regarding the lost baggage incident at the airport on March 27 and 28.

In a statement issued today, the Government concurred with the report's testimony that the handling of the incident did not violate any airport security requirements or international aviation security standards.

It said, according to the report, the authority, the Aviation Security Company and the airline have provided information on the incident.

The report said, after its discovery in the departure hall, the baggage concerned passed explosive trace detection and the ownership of the luggage was verified.

It also noted that before entering the departure restricted area, the baggage underwent security screening and was also security screened at the boarding gate before the owner boarded the aircraft.

The statement said the Government agrees with the authority's decision to review and fine tune handling procedures for lost-and-found items.

The Government will continue to work closely with the authority to ensure aviation security and maintain reliable and efficient operation of the airport, the statement added.
