Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung has refuted claims that the MTR fare adjustment mechanism is unfair to passengers.

He told reporters today the previous review in 2013 introduced measures like the rebate from underlining profits to passengers in the form of fare concessions.

Noting public concern about the MTR Corporation's overall profitability and passenger affordability, he said the Government has asked the corporation to advance by one year a review on the mechanism.
