The 2016 Policy Address initiative to install seats at bus stops should start soon as only 100 of Hong Kong's 3,000 sheltered bus stops have seats, Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung says.

Elaborating on the 2016 Policy Address today, Prof Cheung said the installation of bus stop seats and bus arrival information display panels will help elderly passengers and streamline services.

Asked whether the proposal for longer pedestrian crossing times at road junctions will affect traffic, he said the Transport Department will study the matter, saying similar arrangements are in place in other countries.
