Housing quality control to be probed

July 16, 2015

The Housing Authority will form a committee to review the quality assurance mechanism for materials and parts used in public housing projects, including pre-fabricated components.

Secretary for Transport & Housing and Housing Authority Chairman Prof Anthony Cheung made the announcement after a meeting today.

Prof Cheung said the committee will also look into supervisory procedures at various stages of the construction process.

Improvements to the process will be made if there are any inadequacies found.

He said the Housing Authority will liaise with the main contractors of housing estates where drinking water has been found to contain excessive lead.

If any contract breaches are found, the main contractors must take responsibility, he added.
