Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung said today the Government will closely follow up on the Legislative Council Public Accounts Committee's recommendations for installing the new air traffic control system.
Prof Cheung told reporters this afternoon, that "safety is the paramount consideration" and that the Civil Aviation Department will maintain close contact with the system provider to ensure it is installed without further delay.
He said the system is expected to be fully operational by the first half of 2016, adding that the department will ensure that safety, efficiency and effectiveness are the prime considerations in taking the whole project forward.
The Government will also review if there is any area that warrants special attention, as highlighted in the report.
