Land-use reviews boost supply: Paul Chan

January 16, 2015

Ongoing land use reviews increase short and medium-term land supply, Secretary for Development Paul Chan said today.

During a press conference on the land initiatives outlined in this year's Policy Address, Mr Chan noted that such reviews include examination of Government, Institution or Community sites, and the Green Belt review.

The Government has identified about 150 potential housing sites, most of which will be made available for residential use from between now and 2019, providing more than 210,000 flats.

Mr Chan added that the Government will seize every opportunity to increase land supply, noting that it will also continue to explore with the MTR Corporation the development potential of stations and sites along rail lines, such as Siu Ho Wan in Lantau.
