Hong Kong has signed an air services agreement with Madagascar.
Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung and Madagascar's Minister of Transport & Meteorology Ulrich Andriantiana signed the pact today which provides a legal framework for establishing air links between Hong Kong and Madagascar while promoting economic and cultural exchanges between the two places.
He said the Government welcomed the agreement - the 63rd signed by Hong Kong with an overseas aviation partner - and noted that it is in the mutual interest of Hong Kong and Madagascar to establish direct air links between the two places.
Prof Cheung added that with the signing of the agreement, the Government looked forward to forging closer trade, economic and cultural relations with Madagascar, adding that it is in line with the policy of progressive liberalisation in air services between Hong Kong and its aviation partners.
