Motorists should obey traffic laws

October 19, 2014

The Transport Department anticipates traffic will be seriously congested tomorrow, and advises people going to work or school to pay attention to traffic information and plan their journey in advance.

People should start their journey earlier and allow more time for travelling, while drivers should avoid driving to Hong Kong Island.

The department and Police will carry out temporary traffic management measures according to traffic changes.

Motorists should not drive onto the pavement nor drive in reverse because of traffic congestion.

During serious traffic jams, passengers should wait until vehicles pull over before getting off safely.

A total of 147 bus routes and 23 green minibus routes were still affected by protests today. Tram services between Percival Street and Victoria Park remain suspended.
