Development chief to visit Taipei

June 04, 2013
Secretary for Development Paul Chan will visit Taipei from June 6 to 8 to attend an inter-city forum, co-organised by Hong Kong and Taipei governments.

Mr Chan will lead a delegation to study conservation methods in Taipei, and will speak at the forum on June 7 on the revitalisation of historic buildings in Hong Kong.

The delegation will also visit historic buildings including Songshan Cultural & Creative Park, which was converted from the former Songshan Tobacco Plant, the SPOT-Taipei Film House, and Taipei’s Heritage & Culture Education Centre in Bopiliao district.

They will also make stops at the Red House in Ximen, now a cultural and creative hub, Treasure Hill Artist Village, Lin An Tai Historical House and Museum, and Beitou Hot Spring Museum, which was converted from the former Beitou Public Bathhouse.

Mr Chan will also meet Taiwan and Taipei government representatives to share heritage conservation experience, and will inspect the pedestrian zone and elevated walkway network at Xinyi District and Taipei City Hall Bus Station, to learn about the city's town planning work.
