Housing plan

Housing plan:  Secretary for Transport & Housing Professor Anthony Cheung is briefed by Deputy Director of Housing (Development & Construction) Ada Fung on a public housing project in Sha Tin.

Housing chief visits 2 sites

July 06, 2012
New Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung inspected two sites in Sha Tin today, slated for public rental housing and a new Home Ownership Scheme project.

The public housing site is 4.1 hectares, and is currently a Transport Department abandoned vehicle surrender centre, and a temporary bus depot and carpark.

The Housing Authority will redevelop it into 4,200 flats for 12,000 residents. Construction will start in 2015 for completion in 2021.

The home ownership scheme site in Wo Sheung Tun is 0.87 hectares. Now a temporary bus depot, it will provide 520 flats for 1,660 residents by 2019.

Before touring the sites, Prof Cheung visited a family of four in Mei Tin Estate. He said he was pleased to see them living contentedly after moving into the two-bedroom flat via the Public Rental Housing Waiting List in 2006.
