Link road funds approved

The Transport & Housing Bureau has welcomed the Legislative Council's approval of $8.857 billion for the construction of the Hong Kong Link Road of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
 
The bureau said construction will start immediately, adding it is confident local works for the bridge will be ready in time for the opening of the main bridge in 2016.
 
The construction cost of the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities and other related local works have also increased by $6.5 billion as a result of the delay in works caused by a judicial review, it said.
 
To date, an additional $15.4 billion in construction cost has been required.
