Bus franchises reviewed
March 27, 2012
The Transport Advisory Committee today discussed the latest position of the Government's negotiations with three bus companies to renew their franchises for another 10 years.
The companies are New World First Bus Services, Long Win Bus Company and Citybus, in respect of its franchise for the Airport and North Lantau bus network. Their franchises will expire in 2013.
Committee Chairman Rimsky Yuen said the Government has placed emphasis on fare concessions, enhancement in facilities and information for passengers, and environmental improvement measures in the negotiations.
"We understand the Government is on the whole making good progress and will take into account the Transport Advisory Committee's views in making a recommendation to the Chief Executive in Council for a decision in due course."
