Kai Tak cruise terminal tenancy awarded
March 08, 2012
Worldwide Cruise Terminals Consortium has been awarded the tenancy for operating and managing the new cruise terminal at Kai Tak, the Tourism Commission announced today.
The consortium will arrange berthing of cruise vessels, and embarkation and disembarkation of passengers. It will also be responsible for the terminal's promotion, operation and management, including traffic arrangements within the transportation area, security arrangements, and commercial area tenancy.
The consortium must pay the Government a fixed rent for the 10-year operation of approximately $13 million. The Government will also receive from 7.3% to 34% of the operator's gross receipts, to increase as the gross receipts rise.
The terminal's construction works are progressing smoothly. The Government expects the terminal building and the first berth to come into operation in mid-2013 as scheduled.
