January 20, 2012
The Mass Transit Railway Corporation will adopt new facilities like user-friendly ticket machines and public toilets in its designs for future railway stations.
The Transport Advisory Committee today endorsed the plan, which will address the needs of different groups of passengers.
The stations will also have barrier free-access and new passenger information displays on concourses and platforms to provide the time, weather and waiting time for the next train and service disruption information.
Members also discussed the latest surveying technologies used in major road works and franchised bus operators adopting bus designs with barrier-free and elderly-friendly features.
