Broadcasting Authority

The Broadcasting Authority regulates licensed television and radio broadcasters in Hong Kong. It considers complaints against broadcasts and keeps broadcasting standards under regular review.

Broadcasting, advertising codes revised

The Broadcasting Authority has made revisions to the Generic Codes of Practice on Television Programme & Advertising Standards and the Radio Code of Practice on Advertising Standards. The revised provisions will take effect in January.

 

The revisions include:

* relaxing the superimposition of programme change announcements, programme promotional messages and information on the local date, time, weather and emergency situation within TV programmes;

* relaxing the types of materials that can be sponsored within TV programmes;

* aligning the restriction on advertisements for products or services concerned with hair and scalp treatment clinics with that under the Undesirable Medical Advertisements Ordinance ; and

* revising the provisions governing nutrition claims in advertisements to reflect recent amendments to the Public Health & Municipal Services Ordinance.
