Secretary for Food & Health Prof Sophia Chan visited Southern District today to inspect healthcare and food testing facilities.
Accompanied by Under Secretary for Food & Health Dr Chui Tak-yi, Prof Chan met District Councillors to listen to their views on local issues.
They then visited Grantham Hospital to learn about its latest situation and redevelopment plan.
They also visited the hospital's Lo Fong Shiu Po Eye Centre which provides specialist outpatient services.
Prof Chan said the hospital's redevelopment is included in the Government's 10-year Hospital Development Plan to meet the future medical needs of the aging population.
They also visited the Government Laboratory's Food Safety & Quality Group to learn about its food testing procedures.
