2nd Dengue case confirmed

August 09, 2017

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating the year's second local confirmed case of Dengue fever.

It involves a 25-year-old woman with good past health who fell ill on August 2 and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on August 8.

She tested positive for the Dengue virus and is in stable condition.

She lives on Boundary Street, Prince Edward, and works in Central. She had travelled to Vietnam during the incubation period.

Her travel companions and household contact are asymptomatic.

The centre said although the patient had travelled to Vietnam in the incubation period, her residence is in close proximity to the first local case reported on August 7.

The case is being managed as a locally-acquired infection as a precautionary measure.

The centre called on the public to take preventive measures against mosquitoes.

People with symptoms can call the centre's hotline 2125 1133.
