Baby formula marketing code issued

The Government launched a code today on the marketing of formula milk and food products for children below the age of three.

 

The voluntary code will promote breastfeeding and ensure safe and adequate nutrition for young children.

 

It provides guidance to traders, healthcare workers, childcare workers and childcare facilities.

 

The code was drafted by the Taskforce on Hong Kong Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes, taking reference from the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes and World Health Organisation recommendations.

 

It has also taken into account the latest local situation and views from stakeholders collected during a public consultation.
