The Tourism Commission and other government departments have drawn up measures to prepare for a surge of Mainland visitors during the Lunar New Year Golden Week holiday from January 27 to February 2.
The Government will enhance manpower, and co-ordinate transport and cross-boundary services.
A joint command centre will be activated to monitor land control points and take contingency actions if necessary.
The commission is also working with Guangdong and Shenzhen tourism authorities to handle any unexpected events.
Passenger traffic throughout the period is expected to be heavy, so travellers are advised to cross the boundary at less-busy hours.
Mainland visitors are reminded to confirm their accommodation arrangements before arrival.
Customs and Police officers will step up inspections of retail shops targeting group tours, and major tourist attractions will extend opening hours and implement crowd-control measures.
