The 75-year-old man confirmed to be infected with avian influenza A(H7N9) last week died on December 25, the Centre for Health Protection says.
He was the first imported case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Hong Kong this winter.
The centre gave the update today in response to media enquiries.
The patient was admitted to North District Hospital on December 9 and diagnosed on December 19.
