Thirty-three youngsters have been commended under the Secretary for Home Affairs' Commendation Scheme for Youth for their excellent performances in volunteer services and youth activities.
Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah today officiated at the first award presentation ceremony for the scheme.
“We hope the Scheme's awardees will set further good examples by encouraging more young people to participate enthusiastically in volunteer services and contribute to society,” he said.
Mr Lau also awarded Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarships to 20 students for their achievements in non-academic fields, including sport, arts and community service.
Established by the Home Affairs Bureau to foster attainment in non-academic fields, the scholarship supports universities and tertiary institutions in admitting local students with outstanding achievements in sport, arts and community service.
