Two Centre for Food Safety computers in its Man Kam To Food Control Office are believed to have been hacked.
The centre said today the case has been reported to Police and the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer.
The operation of the two computers was suspended immediately.
The centre is assessing the impact of the incident and is assisting the Police investigation.
Computer security measures have been enhanced and staff have been reminded to be wary of computer viruses.
