Healthy workplace pledged

October 03, 2016

Mental bliss

Mental bliss:  Director of Health Dr Constance Chan (second left) and other guests officiate at the Joyful@Healthy Workplace charter signing ceremony.

Over 330 organisations have signed a charter and pledged to establish a healthy and joyful workplace, benefiting more than 220,000 employees.

It is part of the Joyful@Healthy Workplace programme jointly launched today by the Department of Health and the Occupational Safety & Health Council.

Officiating at the ceremony, Director of Health Dr Constance Chan said the workplace is an ideal venue to establish a healthy lifestyle. A healthy and joyful workplace not only ensures employees’ physical well-being and protects their lives, but also enhances the productivity and competitiveness of an organisation.

This helps to build up its positive image, and eventually leads to a win-win situation for both employers and employees.

A major initiative under the Joyful@HK Campaign, the programme focuses on three main areas, namely healthy eating, physical activity and mental well-being.

Participating organisations are from different trades including property management, healthcare services, universities, construction, and public utilities.

The Occupational Safety & Health Council will further work with them to enhance their awareness and capacity to create a healthy and safe working environment.

An award will be running till next March to recognise companies' efforts in implementing health initiatives. An award ceremony and sharing session will be held in March to commend the winning organisations for their support.
