Illicit drug found in fish sample

September 06, 2016

The Centre for Food Safety announced today it has found chloramphenicol in a sample of rabbitfish.

It is a veterinary drug not permitted to be used in food sold in Hong Kong.

The sample was taken from a market stall in Tai Kok Tsui.

The centre has informed the stall operator of the irregularity and will follow up on the case.
