The Centre for Health Protection today reported the second case of Japanese encephalitis in Hong Kong this year and urged people to take preventative measures against mosquitoes.
The case involves a 61-year-old man who fell ill after travelling to Yingcheng, Hubei from July 30 to August 13.
He consulted a private doctor on August 14 and was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital on August 16.
He tested positive for Japanese encephalitis but is in stable condition.
