Five women and a man were fined up to $15,000 today for managing illegal guesthouses.
In July last year and February to April this year, Office of the Licensing Authority staff posed as lodgers and rented rooms in six guesthouses in Kowloon.
The Home Affairs Department said operating or managing an unlicensed guesthouse is a criminal offence that can lead to a maximum fine of $200,000 and two years' imprisonment.
