Two prepackaged food mislabelled

August 09, 2016

The Centre for Food Safety told retailers today to stop selling batches of a bottled dressing and a prepackaged butter roll after the nutrient contents were found to be inconsistent with the declared value on the nutrition label.

The bottled dressing is Red Kellys Tasmania Aromatic Lemon Myrtle Dressing, from Australia, 250 millilitres per bottle, with a best-before date of June 16, 2017.

The other product is President Unsalted French Butter Roll, from France, 250 grams, with best-before date of October 8.

The centre earlier took the samples from supermarkets in Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay.

The dressing sample's actual sodium content was 160mg per 100ml but the declared value was 78mg per 100ml.

The actual sugar content in the butter roll sample was 1g per 100g but the declared value was 0.5g per 100g.

The centre has told the vendors to stop selling the affected batches immediately.
