More than 100 bodies and organisations have signed a charter pledging to support organ donation activities.
The charter is to encourage more people to accept organ donation and register their wish to donate organs after death in the Centralised Organ Donation Register.
Speaking at the charter's launch today, Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man said the signatories pledge to promote organ donation by encouraging their staff or members to register their wish to donate organs.
"We have set a target for the campaign, that is, to double the current 200,000 registrations recorded in the register to 400,000 by the end of this year."
To minimise reluctance or hesitation of people to donate organs, and to boost promotion, the Government formed a committee in April to co-ordinate and consolidate promotion works by different Government departments and organisations.
