The Centre for Health Protection received notification today of the 17th imported case of Zika virus infection on the Mainland, involving a 37-year-old man.
The man, who lives in Venezuela, arrived through the international airport in Xiamen on April 28.
He developed a sore throat and low-grade fever on May 8, and a skin rash and high fever on May 12.
He is now hospitalised in stable condition.
The centre urges the public, particularly pregnant women, those planning pregnancy, and immunocompromised patients to adopt strict anti-mosquito measures during travel.
