Health chief to study vaccine error

April 28, 2016

Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man will look into the incident in which a Government clinic doctor gave a patient the wrong vaccine and see whether the Department of Health should improve its communication.

He told reporters today the department should be open and transparent in handling medical incidents.

He said will study the department's investigation report to see whether improvements are needed on the disclosure of such incidents.

On regulating the beauty industry, Dr Ko said the department earlier announced guidelines defining what medical procedures are. The Government is also drafting the legislation requiring facilities where high-risk medical procedures are conducted to obtain a licence.
