The Department of Health launched the three-year Joyful@HK campaign today to promote mental health.
Officiating at the launch ceremony Chief Secretary Carrie Lam said the campaign is based on a suggestion by the Review Committee on Mental Health which formulated a direction on mental health services development.
Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man said mental health is not only a personal matter but also a keystone of maintaining the smooth operation of society, so it occupies a prominent position in the Government's public health agenda.
"Maintaining good mental well-being allows us to cope with pressure in daily life, perform duties effectively, and as a result contribute to our society," he said.
Publicity events will be launched under the campaign this year to promote the mental health message to the public.
The department has made a website and launched a Facebook page for the campaign.
A television announcement on the campaign will also be broadcast.
